ABOUT Robin

My love of cooking came from my grandmother — a child of farmers from Mississippi and my mother who made her own spin on traditional Southern recipes. As for me, not only do I take pride in cooking, I love creating my own lane in baking. 

I've found that I am passionate about telling food stories — written, visual and social that always places culture, food and the environment at the forefront. What matters to me most is telling food stories that center underrepresented people, especially people across the African diaspora.

I've recently joined 14 East Magazine as an Associate Editor and freelance for various media spaces. You'll also find my blog (on this site) called foodbythebite where I cover retail, sustainability, agriculture, business and lifestyle news that I turn into bite size content for readers.

I have a B.A. from DePaul University, a EdM and a PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and I am currently finishing my M.A. at DePaul University in Multimedia Journalism.

You'll find me all across Chicago trying food from culturally rich and inclusive spaces that express themselves with what they know best, food.
