Consumers want sustainable products and “48% of millennials feel guilty about their own plastic use and 64% of this group was willing to use plastic alternatives” according to Food Dive.
This study formed the Plant Based Products Council, which includes Archer Daniels Midland Co., Cargill, Tate & Lyle and Ingredion and other companies as founding members.
The council will push for the use of products made from renewable sources and it will advocate for “renewable materials and feedstocks, including policies to reduce carbon emissions, improve water quality and soil health, and curtail solid waste destined for landfills.”
There are companies and non-profits across the world trying to reduce food waste, packaging and making everything recyclable, this council is one of many.
Hopefully, this council will join forces with consumers to reduce packaging waste effecting the environment.
